Pushing Through the Dark Seasons: How to Keep Going When Life Feels Uncertain

There’s a season in life that no one really talks about—the one where you don’t know if you’re up or down, where you don’t know where your next dollar is coming from, where you’re unsure if you’ll get that job, find that stability, or even make it through. It’s the season of uncertainty, the kind that wraps itself around you like a heavy fog, making it hard to see the path ahead.

It’s a dark space to be in. And if you don’t have the right mindset, that darkness can pull you in deeper and deeper until it feels impossible to escape.

I know this season well because I’m in it right now. I know where I want to be, but the reality is, I’m here—not there. The challenge is figuring out how to hold onto my energy and stay in alignment with the future I’m manifesting, even when my current reality looks nothing like it.

So how do you keep going when everything feels uncertain? How do you show up for yourself when doubt, fear, and exhaustion try to keep you stuck?

No matter how hard it gets, no matter how tired, frustrated, or lost you feel—if you just keep moving, one step at a time, you will make it to the other side.

  • Get up. Even when it feels pointless.
  • Take that shower. Even when you’d rather stay in bed.
  • Do that workout. Even when your body feels heavy.
  • Rest. Even when your mind tells you that you don’t deserve it.
  • Believe. Even when doubt screams louder than your dreams.

You might look crazy to everyone else. You might even feel crazy believing in something that hasn’t materialized yet. But keep going anyway. Because on the other side of this season, you’ll look back and realize that every moment you pushed through was a step toward your future self.

Yes, life throws things at us that we can’t control. But there’s also a lot that we can control.

  • When was the last time you truly thought about your future self?
  • What does that person look like?
  • How do they feel?
  • What kind of life are they living?
  • What do you want people to say about you when you’re gone?

Your current reality is just that—current. It’s not permanent. It’s not the final chapter of your book unless you decide to stop writing.

Every minute that passes where you’re not actively creating the life you want is time pulling you further from your vision. You don’t have time to waste.

Don’t get stuck in your current reality. Don’t get trapped in your past.

Because this season will pass, and when it does, you’ll realize just how strong you really are.

I believe in the power of reflection, so here are five journal prompts to help you process your current season and visualize your future self.

  1. What does my future self look like, and how can I start embodying that energy now?
  2. What is one small habit I can commit to daily to help me move forward?
  3. What limiting beliefs are holding me back?
  4. What is in my control right now that I haven’t taken full advantage of?
  5. If I could write the next chapter of my life, what would it say?
  • Have you ever been in a dark season?
  • What helped you push through?
